Phone just decided to 100% die a week before my new phone arrives. Won’t boot at all. Now I have no way to get my contacts or photos off the phone except for the photos which are on my MicroSD. I was going to go out exploring this weekend too but I am not going to do that without a phone. WTF... Post Minis and Rally cars.

Edit: And now it is boot looping. FUCK!

You don’t backup your pics automatically? If you connect your phone to a pc via micro USB, you maybe be able to see the drive, and copy them that way. Sometimes the os is corrupt but the storage can still be accessed from another device.

Most of my pics are on a MicroSD card but I can’t get into the phone storage through my PC. My only hope right now is that google automatically backs up my contacts as part of my google account. I don’t think they do though.

About a year ago I ordered a new pair of glasses. My dog ate my old ones before they arrived, so I went about a week without glasses. I sort of feel your pain.

Oh I hear ya. Even though I’m driving something reliable and mostly know my way around here I was worried about being in an accident with no way to contact anyone. Not to mention that I don’t really have a way to tell time with no phone!

Which phone? My LG G3 did that when the battery went south, but it worked fine on the charger.

You could try taking out the SIM card, try booting without a battery, or just dig a deep hole in the ground and bury it... :)

I have an LG G4. I believe I have been hit with the infamous motherboard issues. Attempting to boot without the battery just results in the vibration motor turning on and then not turning off.

Were your contacts not synced with Gmail?

No one should be storing contacts on their phone or. SIM card anymore. Use an email address and keep them in the cloud.

I don’t know if they were. I have asked my mom to mail my old Galaxy for me to use until my Pixel arrives. The majority of my contacts are on the Galaxy but I still may end up loosing a bunch.

I will be making sure of that though I imagine google will have set the Pixel up to ingrain itself as deeply as possible into their services.

By default it syncs your phone contacts with your gmail account address contacts. Lets hope you didn’t turn that off. Once you get your new phone, and add that account they should sync to it.

I have a less than a year old G4. This concerns me. Mine locked up on me the other day without warning and my battery life hasn’t been great of late either. I’m afraid to look up what issues are going on.

I’m not familiar with the G4 mb issues, but I just swapped the mb on my G3 this week. The SIM card reader had developed bad contacts with the board, and would randomly drop the network or force a reboot of the phone.

The mb cost me about $130 on eBay, and it is SUPER easy to change. I suspect the G4 is similar.

I would grab another motherboard but it wouldn’t help me get the data off of the phone and I already ordered a Google Pixel to replace it last weekend. One of the nice things about these plastic phones is that they are super easy to get into. It looks like a board for an international G4 variant would be ~$50 but I cannot find any for the Verizon variant.
